Lineup for SQL Cruises in 2013 is Set
A Mix of Returning and New Technical Leaders for 2013
We have a great mix of returning and new speakers coming our way in 2013 for SQL Cruise. We’ve broadened our focus to also add a Business Intelligence aspect to SQL Cruise for a first time as well.
You’ve Been Asking for Business Intelligence and We Have Listened
As SQL Server continues to mature Database Administrators finds themselves supporting OLAP environment as well as OLTP instances that are either the source of; or the unplanned destination of ETL into an Enterprise’s data warehouse initiative. Because understanding core BI concepts are crucial for success in today’s data environments we have Stacia Misner joining us to give us an introduction to Business Intelligence as well as a well-needed dive into dimensional data modeling.
The Return of Microsoft’s Buck Woody
We also have Microsoft’s own Buck Woody joining us again in Alaska to conduct Professional Development workshops similar to what he did when he joined us in Alaska in 2011. Professional Development is a cornerstone of SQL Cruise both in formal class time and in our networking, open office hours, and panel time. Buck was a great addition to SQL Cruise 2011 Alaska and I’m looking forward to him coming aboard again in 2013.
Returning Technical Leaders
Also joining us again will be Allen White (in Miami) to present two sessions on Powershell for the DBA and Aaron Bertrand from SQL Sentry will be on our Alaska cruise to conduct workshops on using 2012 enhancements wisely as well as the good and bad processes being employed by Database Administrators.
New Technical Leaders Joining Us in 2013
Rounding out our lineup will be Sean McCown, SQL Server MCM and MVP who will be on the Miami cruise conducting a two-part workshop on leveling-up to being an Enterprise Database Administrator, and both Ryan Adams (former SQL Cruiser and brilliant DBA for Verizon Wireless) and Neil Hambly (former SQL Cruiser and active MCM test candidate) who will be guiding us on the subjects of Active Directory, DNS, Central Management Server, Policy Based Management, and a Deep Dive into memory operations in SQL Server 2012.
