Past Cruises

Want to know what all the excitement is about?  Check out our past cruises:

2011 Alaskan #SQLCruise – Seattle, WA

May of 2011 found us in Alaska for the first time.  It also welcomed the advent of guest speakers on our SQL Cruises.  We were joined by Aaron Bertrand, SQL Server MVP from SQL Sentry.  SQL Sentry has been a sponsor of SQL Cruise from our very first cruise and has always been the first to (pardon the pun) jump on board when we plan a next year of SQL Cruises.  Also joining us was yet another fellow SQL Server MVP:  Grant Fritchey of Red Gate Software.  Red Gate has also been with us since the beginning and continues to be a strong partnering sponsor with SQL Cruise.

Also joining us was SQL Server Community Icon Buck Woody of Microsoft Corporation.  Though now with the Azure Team at Microsoft Corporation, Buck sailed with us and presented two compelling professional development sessions.

We sailed from Seattle through the Inside Passage to Alaska and when class was not in session we were found climbing the cliffs of Skagway, Alaska; watching whales breach along the shores of Juneau; or snorkeling (yes, snorkeling) in Ketchikan, Alaska.  Our journey came to a close in Victoria, BC and it’s unique blend of European and Pacific Northwest cultures.

2011 Miami #SQLCruise – Miami, FL

Late Spring of 2011 found us returning to Miami once again for SQL Cruise.  We visited the Mexican island city of of Cozumel and Grand Cayman Island.  When not swimming with turtles, visiting Mayan ruins at Telum, or relaxing on the beach with a good book, we were cracking books and getting our SQL Server ‘learn on.  Joining us on this cruise was former Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) President and Technical Product Specialist for Quest Software, Kevin Kline. Kevin was on hand to answer product questions and provide demonstrations of management, tuning, and backup software technologies offered by one of our sponsors, Quest Software.  Quest Software is the only other sponsor to partner with us for all three of our SQL Cruises!
